The Challenge
The main challenge was creating the stretch and squish effect of the character's limbs only, while maintaing the facial and character animation.
Our Solution
Using Blender, we animated the character first, then transfered the data over to houdini to apply a custom vellum simulation, where we could paint the areas of the character to have the effect and non painted areas to retain animation data.
Behind the Scenes
- Custom clothing of the Nurse and simulation was done using Marvelous Designer.
- The project required 1TB of rendered footage across 6 months of production.
- 9,360 frames took 468 hours to render (19.5 days of continous rendering).
- Animation was done using mocap as base, then tweaked for each scene.
